Summer Sizzling Ribs

Baby Loin Back Ribs are the perfect way to kick off summer evenings paired with the 2020 Austin Hope Cabernet Sauvignon. Ribs are one of those dishes usually served as a main entree however, it’s even nice meaty appetizer. Now when it comes to Baby Loin Back Ribs my very favorite way to serve them is a main entree. These are my favorite pairing side dishes with Baby Loin Back Ribs: Homemade Mac & Cheese, Homemade Baked Beans (MOM’s Recipe), Coleslaw, Baked Green Beans or the delish Green Beans sautéed in Applewood Bacon, and Grilled Assorted Vegetables are all terrific sides to be prepared with your Summer Sizzling Baby Loin Back Ribs. Can’t forget your homemade sweet rolls.

What you need:

2 slabs Baby Loin Back Ribs (about 4 pounds)

3 Tablespoons Dry Spices Medley (See Recipe)

Basting Sweet Sauce Note: (How much basting sweet sauce depends on how saucy you enjoy your ribs)

Dry Spice Medley Recipe

Ingredients: 3 tablespoons paprika 2 teaspoons seasoned salt 2 teaspoons garlic powder 2 teaspoons ground black pepper 1 teaspoon dry mustard 1 teaspoon ground oregano 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes ½ teaspoon chili powder

Basting Sweet Sauce

Ingredients: 1 cup ketchup 1 cup red wine vinegar 1 (8-ounce) can tomato sauce ½ cup spicy honey mustard ½ cup Worcestershire sauce ¼ cup butter or margarine 2 tablespoons brown sugar 2 tablespoons hot sauce 1 tablespoon seasoned salt 1 tablespoon paprika 1 tablespoon lemon juice 1½ teaspoons garlic powder teaspoon chili powder teaspoon ground red pepper teaspoon ground black pepper

Directions:

  1. Combine ingredients for spice medley and set aside.

  2. Make the sauce by combining all ingredients and bringing them to a boil in a Dutch oven. Reduce heat, and simmer sauce, stirring occasionally, 30 minutes.

  3. Place ribs in a large, shallow pan. Rub Dry Spice Medley evenly over ribs.

  4. Turn on oven at 200° then arrange ribs on 1-2 baking sheets so they can evenly precook. Bake ribs for about 4 hours.

  5. Prepare a hot fire by piling charcoal or lava rocks on one side of grill, leaving other side empty. (For gas grill, light only one side.) Place food rack on grill. Arrange ribs over unlit side.

  6. Grill ribs, covered with grill lid, over medium heat (300° to 350°) for approx. 1 hour. Brush basting sweet sauce every 15 minutes and turning occasionally.

Enjoy paired with a glass of the 2020 Austin Hope Cabernet Sauvignon.
